How many times has this happened to you?
You start out your day with plans to do something and then it never happens.
What does happen is that you are thinking of all the things that need to be done.
Things that happened days ago, and then an overpowering thought takes over. These thoughts take us out of the “now” that we should be in.
What the heck is NOW?
It’s living in this present moment and just enjoying it.
Trust me friends, I get it.
This happens to me too and I have to bring myself back and snap myself out of the speeding through life trance.
How can we start living in the moment; the one that is right in front of our noses?
Start by asking yourself what is important to you right now.
Seriously, what is important to you right now?
Make a list of things that you want to do. Things that you want to do today.
I start out writing down 5 things daily and then I pick one thing off of that list.
Take a breath.
Breathing is one of the best ways to focus our attention on the here and NOW.
Take three deep breaths. Pay attention to how you are breathing.
Close your eyes and just breathe.
We don’t have to do everything today. These thoughts can be overwhelming and can cause us more stress.
Take a moment and figure out what you can do today and do that.
Tomorrow is another day.
Find your peace and happiness. This looks differently for all of us.
What makes me happy, may not make you happy. Figure out what it is you need and pursue that.
It always helps me to write down what is important to me. How do I do this?
Grab yourself a pen and paper. Write down all the things that mean something to you. https://amzn.to/2Sjv0O
There is no such thing as one size fits all when it comes to doing things that will help you relax.
It is great to practice different techniques such as breathing, meditation, or mindfulness. This doesn’t mean that it will be a universal recipe that will guarantee you peace and harmony.
What you can do is figure out which one resonates with you and which one works the best for you.
Do that. Do the things that help you feel better.
Do something daily to relieve your stress.
