How are you taking better care of yourself and are you getting enough sleep?

Every week you hear me talk about your stress style, the different things that you can do and asking you to please take care of yourself, but to identify your stress style. Identifying how you handle stress is important in knowing how you can relieve it and feel better.  In the Wellness Concepts book, the authors speak about how important it is to have a positive attitude towards stress.  There is a direct link between how someone views their life and how they handle what is going on in their lives. * I want to ask you how are you sleeping? Are you getting enough hours in? Have you scheduled your yearly physical?

If you have scheduled your physical, GREAT. If you have not, let’s talk about scheduling your physical today.  Though it may be scary to go to the doctor and hear that there may be something you have to do to get better, it’s better to find out early. Early detection is key.   If you are experiencing major issues with your sleep, you should see a doctor to help you figure out what is going on? If you don’t get enough sleep, your body boosts its level of stress hormones. The brain chemicals connected with sleep are the same ones that tell your body to stop producing stress hormones.*  You can read more about sleep here. http://sleep.org

I love sharing tips with you and this one I am super excited about.  I love using lavender essential oils to help me relax and sleep better.  I use lavender right before going to bed and sometimes use my diffuser to get the scent going in my home. Lavender has calming and relaxing qualities.  It’s calming to the mind and body.  Inhaling lavender promotes relaxation and a restful night sleep.  How can you start using this today?  Add a few drops to your pillows, bedding, or the bottoms of your feet for a restful night’s sleep.  Add a few drops to your bath water along with some Epsom salts and soak that stress away.  You can also apply it to the back of your neck or temples to help ease muscle tension.   I can’t say enough about this oil. It truly has helped me sleep better.

The ultimate goal is to do things that are going to make you feel better. To take better care of yourself daily. That is the goal people.  What are you going to do today, to take better care of yourself?
