You can relax your entire body with this simple technique.  Are you ready to start today?

The power of your breath is underestimated every single day. Deep breathing is a fantastic way to lower stress in your body, daily.  You know how I tell you to do things daily, take care of yourself and to not wait for the perfect day. Today is the most perfect day ever.

Well…this tip is amazing.

The way that you breathe affects your entire body according to Dr. Belisa Vranich, the author of Breathe.  Breathing exercises are easy to learn and easy to implement in your daily routine.

And news flash people…you are already breathing.  You are alive because of that breath.

What happens to your body when you take these deep breaths?

Deep breathing sends a message to your brain to calm down and relax.

Yes…to calm down and relax.

The brain then sends the message to your body.

The things that we experience when we get stressed such as increased heart rate, fast breathing, and high blood pressure, can all be decreased by breathing deeply.

So why are we not doing this enough?

Right?

Breathing exercises are easy to learn and you can do them anytime, anywhere.

I am sharing my favorite one below and I hope that it becomes your go to breathing exercise as well.

Stop what you are doing right now and take a deep breath.

Inhale through your nose, hold your breath for two seconds, and breathe out through your mouth for four seconds.

If your mind wanders, it often happens to me, just bring your attention back to your breath.

Repeat this as many times as you need.

Here’s another quick tip that helps me keep this relaxing, resetting practice in my daily routine.

If you have an iPhone you can set your alarm for 1, 5, or even 15 minutes.   You can label your alarms and get your breathing on.

Breathing offers a great, simple and convenient way to relieve your stress and reverse your stress response.

Reversing the negative effects that stress can have on your body is worth every single breath.
